When John and I met, we were teenagers. I was 13, still a young girl-- and I wanted to learn to skateboard. John taught me how. Through our lessons, the two of us became friends, and we stayed friends until my family and I moved.
Every once in a while we'd bump into each other, but our chance meetings slowed more and more, until finally they stopped entirely.
For many years I wondered where John was. I wondered how he'd been, what had happened to him, what his life was like now--but what I didn't know was that all along, he had still lived in the same area I lived.
By the time 2011 rolled around, I had fallen out of touch with most of my old friends, and I was looking to meet some new people. So I looked online; I found this app with a cute, pink little heart on it, and I made a profile.
Within a week of making a profile, this nice-sounding guy had sent me a message. We messged back and forth for a few weeks, and then one night we finally got together for some karaoke.
Karaoke turned into bowling, bowling turned into talking... and about an hour or two into our evening, we finally started to put the pieces together. We had changed so much after 10 years, we hardly recognized each other, but ever since I realized who he was, and he realized who I was, we've been inseparable!
